There will be some changes in the good weather we have been experiencing the last couple of days.  That is because the proximity of a cold front near to the Yucatan Peninsula is supporting a slight increase in moisture over Belize heading towards the weekend.

The general forecast for Belize and her coastal waters is for mostly cloudy skies with a few showers or periods of rain mostly over northern and inland areas of the country.

Winds over the open sea and along the coast will be westerly to northwesterly at 5 to 15 knots, producing light chop to choppy sea conditions.

Temperatures will fall tonight to around 68 degrees Fahrenheit at dawn along coastal areas; 64 degrees Fahrenheit inland and a cold 60 degrees Fahrenheit up in the hills.  High temperatures on Thursday will be around 82 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast; 86 degrees Fahrenheit inland and a comfortable 72 degrees Fahrenheit up at the exposed areas of the Mountain Pine Ridge and along the Maya Mountains in the south.

The tides: high tides will occur at 8:51 pm today and at 10:06 am on Thursday.  Low tides will occur at 4:45 am and 3:18 pm, also on Thursday.

The sun will rise at 6:25 am on Thursday. It will set at 5:47 pm on Thursday.  The extended forecast, valid through to Saturday is for variably cloudy skies with cool conditions and generally isolated shower activity.

That’s a brief look at the weather, with information provided by forecaster Michael Gentle at the Belize Weather Bureau.
