AARON HUMES Reporting: A crowd has assembled outside of the Number One magistrate’s Court in Belize City awaiting sentencing of Corporal Gino Peck on unlicensed ammunition conviction.
Reports from the scene say some people in the crowd are carrying placards demanding the release of Corporal Peck and referring to recent corruption scandals.
Meanwhile, key players in the trial, including the Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl Lyn Vidal are meeting in the courtroom of Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin where she and two other attorneys are being elevated to the Senior Counsel.
A contingent of police officers is also on hand to support Corporal Peck but have so far made no move to intervene in the gathering of the crowd.
Chants of “free Corporal Peck” is heard around the area as activists and individuals who have been affected by similar circumstances have given testimonials to reporters.
