Dr. Marco Tulio Mendez supports O.W. Town Council’s lease application

The Honorable the Member for Orange Walk East Dr. Marco Tulio Mendez has issued a press release saying that he and his executive committee are supporting the Orange Walk Town Council in its bid to obtain control of land parcel #2215, formerly Guadaloupe Park as well as parcels 2218 and 2219 known as East Sports Center.

The PUP Orange Walk East committee and Dr. Marco Tulio Mendez are publically appealing to the Ministry of Natural Resources to accept the lease application sent in by the Orange Walk Town Council today.  That application was officially submitted today, Thursday, February 6.

Dr. Mendez’ press release outlines 4 main points as to why he and his Executive Committee are supporting the Orange Walk Town Council in its bid to gain control of the parcels of land.

These include that parcel 2215 was originally donated in 1975 by Angel Castillo to be used as a park; that parcels 2218 and 2219 were obtained as a community initiative and that a sports playground has been started; that the Orange Walk Town Council is best fitted to administer and oversee the development of the park and playgrounds and that the Town Council has the necessary resources to care for and monitor development of these facilities.
