ORANGE WALK BUREAU Reporting: The village of Douglas in the Orange Walk district was thrust into the news headlines over the weekend when word emerged that a grave had been desecrated.

The macabre incident is disturbing to say the least as the remains of a woman who was buried two decades ago were removed.

Felipa Sanchez was buried in a tomb at the cemetery in Douglas village but this past weekend her family was alerted of the desecration and removal of the remains.

Members of Felipa Sanchez’ family says that when they visited the cemetery they found the burial clothes outside and most of the bones gone.

The few bones that were salvaged were found a short distance away from the broken tomb. As the matter is under police investigations there are more questions than answers surrounding this strange incident.

Why was the tomb broken?  Who broke the tomb?  Why were the bones disturbed?

The family of Felipa Sanchez has since resealed the tomb, but the mystery of this strange act continues to baffle an entire community.
