AARON HUMES Reporting: BELCARIBE Communications has partnered with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, launched a DVD of stories for primary school children at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts.

With names like “Emily the Cow”, “Matt the Rat” and “The Fire Ants,” the “It’s Story Time” DVD introduces children to stories taught on the Primary School curriculum.

Sandra Mahler, the developer of the project, says that not all students learn by listening, but prefer visual cues and this project is designed to help with that.

The project, which included children as story readers, had some sponsorship difficulties, but it survived and was launched today before an eager audience.

The plan is to have each school and each primary school student get a copy of the DVD for use at school and at home.

Ministry of Education representative Dr. Carol Babb said the Ministry recognized the importance of telling children stories and improving their reading capability and has recommended the book for use in schools

The DVD was available for free at today’s launch and copies can be obtained for five dollars from BELCARIBE on Gabourel Lane.

The general public is advised not to copy the DVD to ensure the success of the project.
