JUAN CAAL Reporting:  The announced trip to the border by Belize Territorial Volunteers this past weekend was a huge success, according to organizers.

On Saturday, March 1, a group of women trekked to the Belize-Guatemala border with the singular purpose of planting coconut trees on the Belize side.

Under the leadership of People’s National Movement leader Wil Maheia, the women left the Punta Gorda Central Park around 6 am on Saturday.

Women from different ethnic groups made the early morning trip to the border on Saturday to show love for their country and helping to demarcate the border.

Organizers say the event met its objectives and confirms that Belizeans “will continue to fight for what is rightfully ours.”
