PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: A high school student in Corozal has reportedly taken her own life.

Reports from Corozal say the body of 13 year old Frances Salam was found late Friday afternoon by her younger sister.

The official police report says that the father of the girl, Police Constable #1146 Sotero Salam, his wife and two younger daughters arrived home around 4:15 pm on Friday, but got no response when they knocked on the front door of the house.

Police say that their initial investigation reveals that PC Salam’s ten year old daughter went to the back of the house to attempt to gain entrance, and that was when she made the shocking discovery of her sister hanging from a rope.

PC Salam took down his daughter’s body but there was nothing he could do to save the child.

Her body was taken to the Corozal Community Hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body of Frances Salam now awaits a post mortem examination.
