PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: Belizeans are being invited to submit project proposals for grant funding from the Caribbean Climate Innovation Center.
The Proof of Concept Competitive Grant Scheme is being promoted across the region and successful project proposals stand to receive up to US$50,000 in “free money” to be used for implementation.
Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Climate Innovation Center Everton Hanson was recently in Belize to promote the grant funding scheme and explained that there are five general areas under which funding is being offered under the initiative.

According to the published guidelines for the CIC Proof of Concept Competitive Grant Scheme, “technologies or business models to be funded should demonstrate potential positive impact to environment and community through mitigation or adaptation to identified climate challenges” in the give general areas mentioned by Hanson.

At the time of our interview, the deadline was the end of March, but the Caribbean Climate Innovation Center has announced that the deadline has been moved back to April 20, 2014.
