Monday, March 31, 2014. JUAN CAAL Reporting: The organization HOPE – Helping older people equally – held their first fundraising event over the weekend at the Punta Gorda Central Park.
Volunteers came out in full support of the initiative which featured punch board, cheap clothes sale and pastries.
HOPE has been advocating for the needs of elderly people in the Toledo district and the organization intends to get more people involved in the work that they do.
The HOPE organization is among the first that is working towards the improvement of services for elderly.
Chair of HOPE Shirley Mahung says that “we cannot forget our elders because it is them who made us who we are today.”
Mahung encourages the community to work together to improve the quality of life for elderly persons.
“They had to sacrifice themselves before us and I am very and more than willing to give something back in return to those who were the backbones of all our success and accomplishments,” said Miss Mahung.
Mahung says that HOPE is opened to anyone who wants to join the organization.
