Saturday, April 5, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: A first of its kind Forestry, Fisheries and Finance fair was held today in Belize City.
The grounds of the ITVET Compound on Freetown Road was the venue for this event which was organized by The Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries, and Sustainable Development in collaboration with the the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Everything from rosewood to lion fish was on display at the ITVET Compound, but Ministry CEO Dr. Wendel Parham told us that in the end the Ministry hopes to establish a bridge between financial institutions and entrepreneurs who sustainably harvest and use these products to make everything from utensils to jewelry, and even a fish dinner.
The event was in commemoration of the recent International Day of Forests observed on March 21.
