Cyclist Ernest Thurton shot and killed




Tuesday, April 15, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: Around 4 o’clock this evening in the Port Loyola area, popular cyclist and messenger for Santiago Castillo Limited Ernest “Dangalang” Thurton, 41, was shot and killed near his aunt’s home on Cumberbatch Street which he was taking care of.

He had stopped in on an errand for his boss Hon. Santiago Castillo Jr when he was menaced and shot once, mortally wounded. Thurton leaves behind five children.

He was a long-time cyclist and was certainly not known to have any part in the ongoing warfare on the streets of Belize City which has now claimed seven lives in four days.

This evening Castillo issued a call for the issue of crime to be addressed by all.
