Thursday, April 24, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: Classes were interrupted this morning at the main campus of the University of Belize in Belmopan, reportedly due to a bomb threat.
The University of Belize management is being tight-lipped about the incident; but the entire campus was evacuated after the alleged bomb threat was received just after 9 am.
By 9:30 am, the “bomb squad” arrived and a complete sweep of the campus was carried out, revealing no explosive device.
It is understood that a search using dogs is still taking place.
No civilians are being allowed on to the UB campus in Belmopan at this time as the search continues.
Best information received suggests that no one part of the campus was targeted by the threat and so a complete sweep of the campus was carried out.
