Hurricane season underway

Sunday, June 1, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: The 2014 hurricane season for the Tropical Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean started today.
Forecasters expect an average season this year with about a dozen or so named storms expected.
Of that amount, they expect one or two to become major hurricanes.
Currently, there are no features of interest in the Tropical Atlantic.
In the Gulf of Mexico there is a stationary trough of low pressure that is producing widespread cloudiness and showers.
No development of this feature is expected at this time.
