Monday, June 9, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: Between Friday night and 12:30 this morning, gun violence in Belize City sent no less than 8 people to the emergency room.
Two of the shooting victims are listed in critical condition. Starting with the most recent … five people were injured in a shooting incident late last night in Belize City.
It happened around 11:45 pm on Sunday during a graduation party at the Brown Sugar Mall on North Front Street.
Police say that two gunmen fired several shots into the crowd hitting the five people.
19-year-old Windell Neal was shot to the abdomen and left leg, 22-year-old Triston Gordon sustained multiple pellets wounds to the back, 26-year-old Daniel Cain was shot to the right leg, 21-year-old Adelyn Vernon to the left inner thigh and an unknown male person had multiple pellets to the head and back.
This unidentified male person is listed in critical condition at the KHMH.
Police say they have retrieved a total of nine 9mm shells from the area as investigations continue.
The next incident has left a 16 year old girl in critical but stable condition.
Police say they visited the KHMH around 3:20 am on Sunday where they found
Corine Corey White suffering from gunshot wounds to the right ear and chest. Police say that their initial investigation reveals that White and two male companions were in a car at the corner of Calle del Mar and Newtown barracks when a gunman fired several shots at then hitting White.
She was rushed to the KHMH and remains in critical but stable condition.
The weekend’s first shooting incident happened around 9:45 on Saturday night.
The victims of this attack have been identified as 28 year old Sigmond Trapp and 25 year old Anthony Scott.
Trapp and Scott, according to the police, were walking on Kut Avenue when they were fired upon at the corner of Amara and Kit Avenues.
Police say someone from inside a black Ford Escort with tinted windows, fired several shots hitting Trapp and Scott.
They were taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they received treatment and were listed in stable condition.
Police investigations continue.
