Security guard charged with robbery of women

Monday, June 16, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: A security guard working for a prestigious firm finds himself accused of robbing two women.

18 year old Chrisdale Courtenay of Sibun Street in Belize City was remanded without bail at the order of Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer when he appeared in court today, charged with two counts of robbery.

Courtenay is accused of forcibly taking valuables from two young women, Xenia Garcia and Samantha Portillo, who were walking on Sarstoon Street around 1:15 p.m. on June 14 when they were approached by a man on bicycle who stopped them, began choking Garcia around the neck and demanding their belongings.

The women handed over an I-Pro cell phone valued at $200, an LG cell phone valued at $125 and $90 cash respectively.

The case returns to court on July 14.
