Wednesday, June 25, 2014. TOLEDO BUREAU Reporting: A Tuesday morning fight in Punta Gorda town has left two men hospitalized, one of them in serious condition in Belize City.

24 year old Eden Mejia sustained a large cut wound to both of his shoulders, left wrist, almost severed fingers on his left hand, a cut to the right side of the forehead and a cut to the left side of the mouth and chest.

26 year old Jordy sustained a cut wound to the right arm, right wrist, lip, left arm, left ear and left side of the head.

Both men were initially taken to the Punta Gorda hospital for treatment however Eden Mejia was later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial in Belize City where he remains listed in critical but stable condition.

Police say that their initial investigation revealed that Flores and Mejia were involved in an altercation during which Mejia used a knife to stab Flores.

Flores reportedly left the area and returned later with his young brother, met up with Mejia and inflicted the chop wounds to various parts of his body.

Police investigation of the incident continues.
