Saturday, June 28, 2014. JUAN CAAL Reporting: A graduation was held on Friday afternoon for participants of capacity building training course on road safety.
Nineteen young men and women from across the country completed the Youth for Road Safety capacity building workshop and received their certificates during ceremonies held at the George Price Center for Peace and Development in Belmopan.
Among the dignitaries present at the graduation were Minister of Education Patrick Faber and Caribbean Development Bank representative Glen McCravel.
The training course was part of a larger plan designed to reach about two thousand youth with the message of road safety in the hopes of drastically reducing accidents on the highways and roadways.
These new graduates are now expected to go back to their respective communities and impart the knowledge they obtained during the two weeks training to their peers.
Recent statistics show that young people are among the most impacted by road traffic accidents and fatalities; that is why the youth population was targeted during this first phase of the project.
