Monday, June 30, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: The Belize Athletic Association is looking for the next wave of talent to lift Belize to athletic superstardom.

But that talent has to have proper coaching to achieve excellence. So both athletes and coaches are getting a work-out from a top-level coach from the United States.

Shawn Venable of Oral Roberts University says Belize has much potential, but it is personal attitude that will lift them above the rest.

He is an International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Level 5-certified coach in sprints, hurdles, relays and jumps and has been teaching what he knows to local coaches and athletes along with his father.

The BAA’s vice president Daland Jones says that the camp, being held at the Marion Jones Sport Complex, is open for all ages through Wednesday and is free.
