Friday, July 4, 2014. GWEN NUNEZ GONZALEZ Reporting: Young vibrant Garifuna Youths will gather at Georgetown Technical High School Grounds next weekend July 11-13th to learn about their cultural heritage, engage in personal uplifting sessions, prayer, language learning and Garifuna crafts among other fun things.
The NGCYA is branch of the National Garifuna Council, which was registered on October 5th, 2014 to ensure cultural survival and economic empowerment.
The Youth Arm is the mother council’s way of cultural continuity. Young men and women from Georgetown, Hopkins, Punta Gorda, Belize City, Dangriga, Belmopan and San Pedro will gather to reconnect, empower, and refocus on the way forward to understand their roles in the realm of the cultural survival movement.
