Elderly man murdered in Belize City

Monday, July 14, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: 59 year old Julio Benedict Mendoza was playing dominoes at a yard on Racoon Street Extension around 10:45 on Saturday evening when death came looking for him.

Police responded to shots being fired in the area and found Mendoza severely wounded from a gunshot to the head.

He died early on Sunday morning around 5:30.

His daughter-in-law Kadine told reporters that he loved dominoes and his grandchildren, and says they had no reason to believe that his life would be cut short this way.

Police investigations continue.
