Thursday, July 17, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: Writing and performing plays in Belize is practically a lost art, but on occasion foreign productions play to local audiences.
The latest import comes courtesy of the Mexican Embassy, which has invited the Grupo Elenco de Yucatan to stage a one-act play titled “Las Pequenas Batallas”, written by Oscar Palacios.
Actor and director of the play, Miguel Garcia Minaburo, says the play is a conversation between a father and son about various social issues and explores the “generation gap” between young people and their elders.
Show time is 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Institute of Mexico in Belize City, and on Saturday the play moves to the Banquitas House of Culture in Orange Walk Town at the same time.
Entrance is free.
