Saturday, July 19, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: The Garcia Sisters from San Antonio village in the Cayo district are representing Belize at the Living Earth Festival underway in Washington, D.C.
The event, which culminates on Sunday, is being hosted by the National Museum of the American Indian.
According to organizers, the Living Earth Festival is designed to showcase the Yucatec Maya Culture and Arts.
Paulita Garcia explains that her group’s input at the Festival is to demonstrate how to carve a Mayan stela on slate.
Belize’s participation in the Living Earth Festival is sponsored by the National Museum of the American Indian.
