Wednesday, July 23, 2014. ORANGE WALK BUREAU Reporting: The sound of happy children at play was the order of the day for the last three days in Orange Walk.
That is because a summer camp hosted by the Belize Camping Experience was taking place.
The camp, which culminated today, had the participation of children who live in particularly difficult circumstances, oftentimes described as being “at risk” youth from the inner-city.
The success of the program targeting children from Belize City prompted organizers to expand to the north and the results were positively upbeat.
A total of 80 boys and girls varying in ages from all over the Orange Walk and Corozal districts converged on the compound of the BSI Staff Club for sporting, educational and spiritual activities.
Belize Camping Experience is hoping to impact about 800 children from Belize City and the north through their summer camps this year.
