Tuesday, July 29, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: Youth Enhancement Services (YES) has been working with the youth of Belize City and surrounding areas to build their capacity for development.
Their latest initiative in conjunction with the Community Policing Unit provided school supplies for more than 100 students affiliated with the program.
YES Director Karen Cain says they gave out 131 schoolbags, paid partial tuition and cost of textbooks for 35 students at several high schools and a junior college.
One of the beneficiaries is a mother of three and high school dropout Lilian Novelo, who joined YES several years ago and is resuming her education at Gwen Lizarraga High School Evening Division.
She says she is ready to resume her journey and this is a timely donation for her.
YES also distributed school packages in Dangriga and Orange Walk, working with sister organizations.
