Thursday, July 31, 2014. GWEN NUNEZ GONZALEZ Reporting: Teachers from the Belmopan Area completed 4 days of teacher-training workshop at Jaguar Creek on Thursday July 24th.
The second group of teachers concluded their training today Thursday, July 31st and the third group will begin August 4th.
The yearly workshops are coordinated by a dynamic team from Pathlight, an organization that “helps elevate educational ecosystems through its three integrated programs: Sponsorships, Teacher Training, and Volunteer Service Teams.
Focusing on more than mere financial support for tuition and school supplies, PathLight provides students with mentoring, leadership opportunities, counseling, tutoring and spiritual discipleship (Sponsorship+ Program).
Additionally, PathLight helps build capacity in teachers (Teacher Training Program) enabling them to teach more effectively so that students learn more effectively, as well facilitating community-development projects (Volunteer Service Teams) that engenders community support for education in local communities” (their Facebook page).
The teachers receive Professional Development Credits from the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports.
The entire experience is coordinated by Mrs. Adrienne Parcher, Executive Program Director at PathLight International.
The organization also has Mrs. Marti Ross, Associate Education Director at PathLight International, as support staff for teachers in Belize.
