Friday, August 8, 2014. DEVON YOUNG Reporting: Corozal police have detained one person pending the outcome of an investigation of a stolen vehicle.
The vehicle, belonging to a Corozal teacher, was stolen from his garage sometime between 11 pm on July 31 and 5:30 am on August 1.
Shortly after making a plea for information on the local TV morning show, the owner of the vehicle tracked it down to a garage in Trial Farm village, Orange Walk.
When the owner questioned the mechanic who owned the garage, he was told that another resident of Trial Farm had sold him the Ford Ranger Pickup truck.
What’s more, the mechanic says that the stolen vehicle, valued at $5,000 was sold to him for only $500.
The person in police detention faces a charge of theft of motor vehicle.
