Civilians reportedly exchange gunfire with police in Orange Walk

Wednesday, August 20, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: Police in Orange Walk have detained two men who allegedly tried to rob a business establishment.

Details are sketchy and still coming in, but a source in Orange Walk says that there was a shootout between police and two civilians.

The incident happened on Liberty Avenue in the Louisiana area of Orange Walk.  Residents we spoke with by telephone say that as many as six shots were fired.

I am told that police have captured the two civilians, and taken away their weapon.

The civilians are now at the Orange Walk police station.

Our Orange Walk correspondent is on the way to scene to get more information and details will be posted as they become available.
