Thursday, August 28, 2014. GWEN NUNEZ GONZALEZ Reporting: A peaceful demonstration is being planned for Friday morning in Dangriga town.
Organizers of the event, the National Garifuna Council Dangriga Branch and the Christian Workers Union, say it is to express dissatisfaction with allegations that the First Caribbean International Bank is prohibiting the speaking of the Garifuna language by employees and customers.
President of the NCG-Dangriga Martha Robinson is inviting Dangriga residents to gather before 11 am so that the demonstration can start at 11 o’clock sharp.
The plan is to gather at the Drums of Our Fathers Monument and proceed to in front of the First Caribbean International Bank office in Dangriga town where various speakers are scheduled to deliver speeches.
The demonstration is scheduled to wrap up by 1 pm.
