Thursday, August 28, 2014. JUAN CAAL Reporting: Health authorities in Punta Gorda town are monitoring a situation of children suffering from cases of vomiting and dehydration.
Authorities note that in the last couple of weeks, there has been an increase in the number of patients, especially children, who are being brought in to the PG hospital for treatment from what appears to be a viral infection.
According to Dr. Erei Nunez, the virus, as yet unidentified, is causing the children to rapidly dehydrate.
Dr. Nunez says an investigation to determine the type of virus and the way it is being spread is now ongoing.
In the meantime, Dr. Nunez is advising parents to practice good hygiene and to get their children to do the same.
