San Pedro man murdered; police investigation underway

Sunday, September 14, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: Police in San Pedro town, on Ambergris Caye, have commenced investigation of a homicide in the municipality on Saturday night.

The victim has been identified as 21 year old Moses Coc.

Reports from San Pedro say that Coc and another man were walking on Swan Street around 11 pm on Saturday, when they were accosted by a man of dark complexion.

Information reported by the San Pedro Sun Newspaper says that the assailant “beat Coc with a piece of wood.”

Police confirmed the attack in a brief bulletin released by the press officer Raphael Martinez.

“Initial investigations revealed that Coc was hit to head and succumbed to his injuries,” according to Martinez.

The San Pedro Sun says that Coc, who lived in the San Pedrito area, was taken to the Otto Rodriguez Polyclinic Two in San Pedro, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Coc’s body has since been taken to the morgue at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City where a post mortem examination will en performed.

Police say they have detained one man as their investigations continue.
