Wednesday, September 17, 2014. ORANGE WALK BUREAU Reporting: The Orange Walk Town Council is pressing ahead with infrastructure works, hoping to complete a major part of it in time for this weekend’s parade route.
Mayor Kevin Bernard says the remedial work being carried out on the intersection of Cinderella and Progress Streets is expected to be completed by Friday.
That area is one of the main parade routes where thousands of people are expected to traverse this weekend in the annual carnival parade and road march.
In the event the remedial work is not finished in time, Mayor Bernard says the Plan B is to alter the parade route, utilizing a different street.
Orange Walk’s Independence Day parade, believed to be the biggest in the nation, is set to start at 3 pm on Sunday from the Central Park on Queen Victoria Avenue.
