Thursday, September 18, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: Police in Orange Walk have arrested a man from Ranchito Corozal following the discovery of a large quantity of cocaine.

36 year old Axel Fuentes was driving a Toyota pickup truck when it drove up at a police checkpoint around 8:30 pm on Wednesday between miles 56 on 57 on the Phillip Goldson Highway.

Police say that during a routine search, officers found an ice cooler containing 18 packages of cocaine weighing in at 18.89 kilograms or just over 41 pounds.

Axel Fuentes is detained pending a charge of drug trafficking.
