Wednesday, October 22, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: 34 year old Angel Dorado is serving a six month sentence for committing a mischievous act and also faces charges of belonging to a criminal gang.
Now a sentence of 2 years’ imprisonment was given him on a wounding charge. Chief Magistrate Ann-Marie Smith handed down the sentence on Monday, his second conviction.
It will run consecutively to the sentence of six months.
Around 6:30 p.m. on September 18, 2013, in the Sunset Park area of Western Paradise, Belize District, Dorado was spied on by resident Paul McCord who says he saw him put something in the bushes.
McCord retrieved the item, a bag containing cannabis, and was on his way to hand it over to a police officer on the other side of the George Price Highway.
But he was intercepted by Dorado, who came up on him from behind and snatched the bag from the back pocket of his pants, then punched him in the face.
The blow fractured his cheek bone and split his lip.
A medico-legal form classified the injury as wounding.
Dorado testified and denied punching McCord, who he claimed was a snitch.
