Friday, October 24, 2014. JUAN CAAL Reporting: Villages in the Toledo district have been presented with equipment which will help in keeping the community clean.
The equipment included weed eaters and lawn mowers and were acquired by the Ministry of Local Government at a cost of about $13,000.
Rural Development coordinator Ernest Banner says that while government has procured the equipment, the respective villages will be responsible for the upkeep of the machines.
According to Banner two riding mowers, valued at about $13,000, will be shared among various communities along the Southern Highway from Cattle Landing village to Indian Creek.
One of the riding mowers was handed over to the chairman of Jacintoville village and will be shared among the villages of Yemeri Grove, Jacintoville, Elridgeville, Forest Home and Cattle Landing.
The second riding mower was handed over to the chairman of Big Falls village and it will be shared among the villages of San Marcos, Big Falls, Silver Creek and Indian Creek.
In addition to the riding mowers, the Ministry of Local Government also gave two weed-whackers, each valued at $1,500 to Dolores and Machaquila villages.
The equipment was handed over to village leaders on Thursday by officials of the Ministry of Local Government.
