Monday, October 27, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: On October 14 it made national headiness when reputed gang figure Roger Anthony, flanked by GSU boss Inspector Mark Flowers, announced that he was giving up the gang lifestyle and turning over a new page in his life.

Today, there is news that Anthony is in police custody allegedly facing charges after he was caught with a handgun.

According to information received – but not yet independently confirmed – Anthony was allegedly busted as he attempted to take the life of a person who is supposedly a member of the Ghost Town gang.

Roger Anthony got lots of support and kudos when the story was published that he was turning his life around.

At the time he told reporters that he wanted to live a more positive life, hence the reason for renouncing the leadership of the Ghost Town gang.

Anthony, at the time of renunciation, called for an end to the violence in Belize City.  Anthony confessed at the time that he expected to be targeted for his decision to turn his life around.

GSU Commander Inspector Mark Flowers publicly commended Anthony for his action and sent the word that while the GSU prefers to do this type of policing, it will not back down from the heavy-handed tactics that it also uses.

Both Anthony and Inspector Flowers said there was no coercion of any kind involved in his decision, though Anthony says he reached out to God in an effort to leave his past behind him.

We will keep monitoring this story.
