Brian Charlesworth found guilty of carnal knowledge of child

Tuesday, October 28, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: 45 year old Brian Charlesworth was convicted of carnal knowledge today by a jury of 9 before Justice Troadio Gonzalez in the Supreme Court.

The jury voted 7-2 to convict Charlesworth of having sexual intercourse with a six year old girl.

The incident occurred at an unknown date between January of 2011 and October 21, 2011.

The child, who testified en-camera, said that Charlesworth had sex with her.

A medico-legal form from the doctor who examined the child was admitted as evidence. 

The doctor said on the form that he found evidence which led him to suspect carnal knowledge but he could not confirm knowledge based on that evidence.

The child’s mother also testified that her daughter told her what had happened and they went to the police station and made a report.

Charlesworth testified and denied that he committed the offence.

He said that he was not at the scene at the time.

Charlesworth was represented by attorney Kathleen Lewis. Crown Counsel Kileru Awich represented the prosecution.
