Monday, November 3, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: Health and Fitness Club 2000, formerly Body 2000, hosted a regular national athletics meet at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City in conjunction with the Rotary Sunrise Club of Belize this past Saturday.
Boasting the only synthetic track in the country, the still-incomplete stadium is being used for training and meets like this one.
Event coordinator Kandice Morrison says athletes can use Saturday’s activity to stay in shape for bigger events down the road.
Approximately 50 athletes participated and received small cash stipends for their performance.
Top performers included Mark Anderson, who swept the 100 and 200 metre events in the senior male division; Jamie Bregal, who did the same in the junior category; sisters Ashantie and Ashontie Carr who collected multiple medals in various disciplines, and many others.
The meet was sanctioned by the Belize Athletic Association.
