Wednesday, November 5, 2014. JUAN CAAL Reporting: [EDITOR’S NOTE: The person named in the following story has no familial connection with our Toledo Correspondent] Police in the Toledo district are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a man on the Southern Highway.
43 year old Juan Caal, a Guatemalan national, was found dead on the side of the Southern Highway between miles 23 and 24 around 9:15 pm on Tuesday.
He had been knocked down and sustained fatal head and body injuries.
The area where the body was found is between Indian Creek and Big Falls villages.
According to the deputy commander of PG police Inspector Ernel Dominguez, preliminary investigations reveal that Caal was riding a green Nankon bicycle towards Big Falls village when he was knocked down and killed by a vehicle that did not stop to render aid.
Police in PG are now appealing to the general public for assistance in identifying the vehicle that knocked down Caal and the subsequent arrest of the driver.
Anyone with information that could assist the police is asked to call telephone number 722-2022.
