Tuesday, November 25, 2014. JUAN CAAL Reporting: The Punta Gorda branch of the Women’s Department today hosted a forum for students of the St. Peter Claver Primary School.
The Father Francis Ring Parish Hall was the venue for the event which was designed to create awareness of current issues that women face on a daily basis.
According to Lorraine Johnson from the Women’s Department, the presenters at today’s forum were from various sectors of the community who shared information on HIV stigma and discrimination and violence against women, among others.
Another event along the theme of addressing violence against women is a National Symposium on Masculinity scheduled for Wednesday at the Biltmore Hotel in Belize City.
Organizers of that event are calling on Belizean men to come together to strengthen efforts to reduce gender-based violence in Belize.
