Thursday, November 27, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: The trial of Bernadette Pickwood, land owner in Belama, and the Ministry of Natural Resources continued before Justice Kenneth Benjamin today with testimony from Commissioner of Lands and Surveys Wilbert Vallejos.
Vallejos was on the stand to describe the length and style of notice to Ms. Pickwood that her lease would be cancelled for lack of development on the property and non-payment of relevant fees.
The land was registered as part of the Ministry’s sweep of the country.
Audrey Matura-Shepherd says that while they continue to pursue settlement, the matter remains up for decision in the court as well.
Vallejos himself took the opportunity to reiterate the Ministry’s policy of being fair to all concerned in brief remarks to reporters.
The trial resumes on December 17.
