Monday, December 1, 2014. ORANGE WALK BUREAU Reporting: The inclement weather may have affected the full participation of the general public in World AIDS Day activities in Orange Walk town; but it did not dampen the artistic efforts of a group of students from the Orange Walk Technical High School.

As part of their contribution to curbing stigma and discrimination surrounding the disease, the students, under the leadership of tattoo artist Jesus Melendez, are today drawing a mural at the school campus.

According to the students, when completed, the mural will depict a world living in harmony where the barriers of stigma and discrimination are shattered and totally removed.

Today’s mural building exercise and an earlier health fair in Orange Walk are part of local activities in observance of World AIDS Day, which is being held under the theme: “Getting to Zero. Zero new infections, Zero Discrimination and Zero AIDS related Death.”
