Police investigate murder of Santa Elena resident

Thursday, December 11, 2014. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: Two persons are in police custody pending murder investigation.

This follows the discovery of the body of 22 year old Santa Elena resident Samir Fernandez on Wednesday afternoon in Esperanza village, Cayo.

Police say they found Fernandez’ body on a feeder road south of the village.

At the time of the discovery, police say Fernandez’ body had several cut wounds on the head.

The body was taken to the morgue at the San Ignacio community hospital where it now awaits a post mortem examination.
