Friday, December 19, 2014. AARON HUMES Reporting: Christmas is for everyone, even those suffering from mental disabilities.
That is the message of the Mental Health Resource Center in Belize City, which hosted 59 clients to a Christmas celebration today.
We spoke with the Center’s Administrator, Joyce Ellis who says the Center held the activity to bring some light to these often-neglected and maligned individuals, some of whom occupy our city streets and occasionally annoy ordinary residents.
The partygoers played games and ate a good meal and were even given their own presents.
Ellis also made an appeal to Belizeans to spare a thought for those in difficult circumstances which the Center assists.
Those who have clothing and other items being thrown out this holiday season may contact the Center to drop off donations.
The Resource Center is located on Vernon and Tibruce Streets in Belize City and will celebrate its second anniversary next July.
