Monday, January 5, 2015. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: Residents of the Cayo North electoral division are today voting in a bye-election to choose a new area representative.
The poll is being taken due to the abrupt resignation of Joseph Mahmud was who elected on a People’s United Party (PUP) ticket in 2012.
At 11 am today, polling area number 73 at the Sacred Heart Primary School saw 1,300 persons had cast their ballots.
At polling area number 75, a total of 383 persons had voted at the Immaculate Concepcion primary school in Bullet Tree Falls village.
The PUP’s candidate in today’s election is Richard Harrison. The candidate for the United Democratic Party (UDP) is Omar Figueroa.
The polls close at 6 pm and counting of the ballots will be done at the Center for Employment Training in San Ignacio town.
