Saturday, January 24, 2015. AARON HUMES Reporting: Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action (COLA) held its annual general meeting this afternoon in Belize City at the Bishop Sylvestre Memorial Hall.

The activist organization says it has defied the odds and survived the fierce opposition from those who wish it ill and believe it is standing in the way of national development.

During the meeting the executive presented reports on the organization’s many achievements since the last major meeting in 2013.

These included the successful initiation of a private prosecution against Elvin Penner for his action in the Kim Won Hong passport scandal; standing against Guatemalan aggression on the border, and lending its voice to critical issues of the day from crime and national security to the economy.

In his main address, President Giovanni Brackett said that COLA will continue agitate on behalf of the Belizean people and promised that there will be trouble coming for the government if it continues to polarize and divide the people as it has already done with the cane farmers, the trade unions and other perceived opponents.

Members of the executive were unanimous in their belief that the organization is stronger than at any time in recent memory because of its dedicated and sustained presence on the national consciousness.
