PUP installs Michel Chebat as standard bearer in Cayo North

THURSDAY, JANUARY 29, 2015. PATRICK E. JONES Reporting: The People’s United Party (PUP) this afternoon endorsed and installed attorney-at-law Michel Chebat as its Standard Bearer for the Cayo North division.

A brief ceremony was held this afternoon at the PUP office on Bullet Tree Road where PUP Leader Francis Fonseca was present for the installation of Chebat.

In an interview after the swearing in, Chebat told Belize Media Group that the decision to endorse him as the Standard Bearer for Cayo North instead of going to a convention was a decision was made by the National Party Council (NPC).

Chebat says the first order of business for him and his constituency team is to fully support the PUP’s campaign for the upcoming Municipal Elections of March 4.

As for Richard Harrison, the man who contested the Bi-election on January 5 and lost to Omar Figueroa of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Chebat says he remains friends with Harrison and that he should be commended for the work he did in the constituency.

They remain friends, according to Chebat and he plans to remain on the ground in the constituency meeting and greeting the people.

A new constituency committee was also installed today for the Cayo North division.
