Man dies after tree falls on him

Saturday, January 31, 2015. BMG: A tragic incident in southern Belize has left one man dead.

45 year old Jose angel Lopez, a resident of Trio Village, Toledo, died on Friday afternoon while being treated at the Independence village Poly Clinic.

According to police, Lopez, a Guatemalan national, and his 17 year old son were cutting lumber in an area about four miles west of Trio Village when a tree that Lopez was cutting with a chainsaw, fell on top of him.

Police say that Lopez sustained injuries to his back, hip and legs when the tree fell on top oh him around 1 pm on Friday.

A doctor pronounced him dead at 3:40 pm while he was being treated for those injuries.

Police investigations continue.
