Friday, February 13, 2015. BMG: St. Hilda’s Anglican Primary School in Georgeville has chosen its candidates for the zone eliminations in the ongoing push to the National Coca Cola Spelling Bee.
A school spelling Bee was held in Georgeville this morning and it did not take very long for Brianna Fairweather, Shamira Moralez and Helen Adolphus to emerge as the top spellers, beating out their classmates to get a chance to represent their school in the competition.
But for one of the students the joy of winning soon ended as reports to our News Stream says that the girl’s mother informed the school that she would not let her daughter take part in the competition.
With that, it was decided that Shamira Moralez and Helen Adolphus would be the students representing Georgeville in the Zone Eliminations.
All three students are receiving heartfelt congratulations and encouragement on social media, while many questions remain as to why the mother is declining to let her daughter partake in the school-sponsored activity.
