Teen drowns in the Mopan River in San Jose Succotz village

Sunday, March 8, 2015. BMG: A Sunday afternoon dip in the Mopan River in San Jose Succotz village, Cayo, ended in tragedy for a teenage boy this afternoon.

Seventeen year old Michael Quintanilla reportedly drowned this afternoon while swimming in the Mopan River.

According to reports, Quintanilla’s body was retrieved from the Mopan River late this evening and CPR was administered before he was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital.

But Quintanilla, a third form student of Eden Seventh Day Adventist High School, did not make it, and he was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Ignacio Community Hospital.
