Wednesday, March 11, 2015. JUAN CAAL Reporting: The new Punta Gorda Town Council was sworn in during ceremonies at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, March 10.

The Oath of Office was administered by Senior Justice of the Peace Alejandro Vernon.

Before a packed room of family, friends and supporters of the United Democratic Party, Fern Gutierrez took the Oath of Office and made history, becoming the first woman to hold the office of Mayor of Punta Gorda town.

Following the swearing in, Gutierrez spoke about the plans she and her team has for Punta Gorda town for the next three years.

The other members of the Punta Gorda Town Council who were sworn in on Tuesday are Ashton McKenzie, Luzanne Avila Gutierrez, Winston Chun, Lucy Cayetano, Steven Polonio and Aphane Avila.
